Faster Production Rate

In many Die Casting dies, the thickest wall section is to be found in the sprue.

Thick wall sections take longer to solidify. They also transfer more heat into a concentrated section of the die steel, decreasing the heat transfer rate.

As a result, the cycle time in many dies is determined by the time it takes to solidify the sprue. This is especially so if the casting itself has a thin wall section.

A thick conical sprue

Using HotFlo! technology, there is no sprue to solidify.

The runners also can be made smaller, reducing solidification time.

The net effect is that for thin walled castings, you can expect a faster production rate.

For very thick wall castings, the casting itself will determine the solidification time, so you would expect the production rate from the die to be similar to that achieved with traditional sprue designs.

Small, efficient runners.
