HotFlo Tool and Die have extensive experience in creating high technology tooling for pressure Die Casting and molded engineering thermoplastics.

We work very closely with our customers to create production tooling which is highly productive, reliable and easy to maintain.

Design Team

Good tooling doesn't just happen. People make it happen. Highly skilled people with experience, training and a thorough knowledge of the technologies involved. Our design staff become an extension of your manufacturing team, in order to complete a specific project.

Project Scope

Projects may range from consulting, design review, complete die and process design, full tool manufacture or manufacture of specific die components.

Die and Process Design

The key step in creating dies that really produce is to ensure that the process capabilities are fully analysed at the design stage. We use a range of software to analyse the process and machine parameters so that the tooling is properly matched to the capability. Cavity filling time, pressures, forces, thermal flow paths, machine capabilities and other important process parameters are specified in the design.

Computer Based Design

We use a range of computer based systems to model the die, depending on the project scope. These include high-end 3 Dimensional Solids Modelling Systems as well as quick 2D drafting packages.

High Speed Machining

Complex three dimensional shapes are converted directly to cutter paths which are downloaded to high speed machining centres. With use of state-of-the-art cutter technology, cavities are cut directly into fully hardened tool steel. The result is high integrity surfaces which need little or no polishing.

Advanced Technologies

We have extensive experience in the application of advanced technologies to dies of all descriptions. These include, multi point thermocouple placement, hot sprue systems, hot runner systems, pressure measurement, pulse cooling, die heating systems, high conductivity metals, as well as thermal barriers and insulators. The use of appropriate technologies can dramatically improve the quality and productive output of a die.

Easy Maintenance

Dies are designed and made so that any components which may be subject to high wear, thermal shock or damage in production can be easily repaired and maintained. Sometimes this can result in a higher up front die cost, but a lower ongoing maintenance cost.
