We have a range of
thermocouples suitable for use in Die Casting dies.
Small diameter
thermocouples (1.5mm) are used for sprue bushes, cavity inserts, cores and
moving slide cores.
Standard lengths are: 80mm, 150mm, 200mm and
250mm.
Larger diameter thermocouples (3mm or 6mm)
can be supplied for larger dies.

Specifications:
Temperature Ratings
1. Because of the high temperatures encountered in Die Casting
applications, we recommend and supply K-type thermocouples
(Chromel-Alumel). 2. The stainless steel sheath can
operatue at temperatures up to 700 degrees Centigrade (1290 degrees
F). 3. The junction between the stainless steel
sheath and the cables can operate at temperatures up to 200 degrees Centigrade
(392 degrees F). For this reason, the cable junction must always be located
away from intense heat sources such as electric elements. Choose the
appropriate length thermocouple to place the cable junction in a region below
this temperature.
Minimum
Bending Radius
The minimum bending radius of
the stainless steel sheath is 4.8mm (3/16"). Be careful when handling, fitting
and bending the thermocouple sheath. Excessive or repetitive flexing can cause
the two fine wires inside to short circuit at a position before the tip. This
can give inaccurate temperature readings. If the thermocouple is badly bent or
damaged, replace it.
