HotFlo! How to Select the Correct Hot Sprue HotFlo! technology

Step 1: Select the Correct HotFlo! Series

The HotFlo! Series number refers to the diameter of the corresponding machine nozzle in millimetres. This defines the upper limit of the casting which can be produced.

There are three ways by which you can select the HotFlo! Series which best suits your requirements : -

a. Select by Machine Range Size

b. Select by Casting Weight and Wall Thickness

c. Select using DC-Calc : Software for Die Casting Design

Step 2 : Specify the style of sprue tip and number of runners

There are three types of sprue tip available : single runner (Mono), two runners (Duo) and one for directing metal into a runner machined into two moving slides (Tubular).

See: Sprue Tip Styles

Step 3 : Select the Sprue Bush length

Each HotFlo! Series is available in three standard lengths, and there are a number of ways that they can be fitted to the die. See below:

Nominal Fixed-Die Thickness

You should always try to use a standard HotFlo! product because it will make maintenance easier, quicker and lower cost.

However, if the standard dimensions do not suit, HotFlo! can make a special version to meet your requirements.
